Grain structures
Grain is the bedrock of film photography. We've got plenty of grain structures, with scuffs, scratches and other marks extracted too.
From clean and light, to heavy and gritty, find the perfect base layer for your photograph!
Light leaks
We've included a huge array of light leaks, of every shape, size and colour!
Light leaks occur in film photography when light enters the camera in some manner, and leaves an imprint on the light-sensitive film inside. It often causes 'happy accidents' - perfect textural artefacts left in your frame.
Date and Time imprints
Date and Time imprints have become an iconic look of the 80's / 90's point and shoot era of film photography.
We've included a wide range of different imprints, from all sorts of different cameras, even some rare imprint messages & symbols.
Damaged Films
Film's a sensitive medium, and every now and then it goes horribly 'wrong.'
We love these damaged artefacts; film accidentally soaked in moscato, film that's been exposed to extreme heat, bizzare chemical reactions, water soaked cameras, etc etc. Try out a few of our finest damaged and experimental artefacts.

(Almost) Perfect Film Simulations
We've shot endless side-by-side photographs on high end digital and film cameras, using the same lenses and exposure settings, and crafted our film simulations specifically on your favourite stocks. Dig the side by side comparison below!
The film photo was shot with a Konica Hexar RF rangefinder with Cinestill 400D film, the Digital photo was shot with a Fuji X-Pro 3 in RAW format and processed through Grainmaker.

How do I use this?
Both the Grainmaker Starter Pack and The Complete Collection are built fundamentally within a Photoshop working document. This document contains most of the tools you'll be using - grain structures, film simulations and all the various analogue artefacts.
This has proven to be the most effective way to mix and match different elements and arrive at top-tier results as immediately and successfully as possible!
What programs Do I need?
You'll need Adobe Photoshop to utilise our Grainmaker tools properly. This is due to the nature of our additive, modular work flow which we've found Photoshop caters for best.
How much will my photos look like film?
We've extracted real artefacts from top-tier film processors and scanners and formatted them for use with digital photography.
Combining these elements, exploring the various combinations and spending time with the workflow can produce some very film-like results!
How easy is it to use?
Grainmaker has been built with both amateurs and professionals alike. We've worked hard to design a work flow that's intuitive, efficient and reliable.
It's structured as an additive, modular workflow, so you can find a way of working that suits you best.
What makes it different to other presets?
Most film presets we've seen over the years come predominantly from Photographers selling colour grading to emulate a film look.
We've instead approached this from a technicians' perspective, utilising world class film processors, scanners and other hardware to extract the finest film artefacts from thousands of rolls; digitising, formatting and preparing them for digital photographers.
We've built Grainmaker on an emphasis on texture, grain and other 'ingredients' of film photography.
